Primitives
Primitives are simple three-dimensional objects that are can be created with a few clicks in netfabb Studio. After clicking on the "Create Primitives" icon in the toolbar or choosing the respective option in the Edit menu, the user can choose from a list of simple three-dimensional objects that can be selected with a double-click and inserted into the project . Although their basic geometry is already given, there are many parameters that can be specified in detail by the user.
After a double-click on a primitive part, parameters for that part can be defined specifically in the tabsheet, including name, color, length, width, height, radius of round objects, solidity or hollowness, wall thickness for hollow parts, the number of corners (for pyramids and frustums), tolerance (preciseness) of round curves and refinement of triangle mesh. That way, you can create a variety of parts.
It depends on the kind of primitive, which parameters can be edited, but changing the name and color is always the same. To change the name of the part, double-click on the default name (e.g. "Box") and type in the new name. To change the color, double-click on the color field and choose a color in the dialog box (click here for more information).
As you change the settings of the parameters, a preview of the primitive is visible on the screen, adjusted to those parameters.
The settings can be saved as default setting for the primitive part by clicking on the button below. The button "Load Default" restores the default settings after the parameters have been changed.
The information below the parameters describes the size of the object along the three axes. By clicking on Apply, the part is inserted into the project.
